“For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts.” - Malachi 2:7
This verse speaks to me as a Pastor, but because of the “Priesthood of all Believers, since God has made us in Christ a Kingdom of Priests, it’s written to all of us.
As Christians stand between humanity and God. As a priest you stand in the gap and pray for your neighbors, your loved ones and even your enemies. As a priest you also stand to speak to them as God’s messenger. You have the knowledge of His Word and have been commissioned by the Lord Jesus to “go into all the world and make disciples.” When people come to you for counsel, they don’t just want to hear your opinions. In their heart they are longing to hear from God and know His will, even if they protest that they don’t believe in Him. Your lips should keep the knowledge of God’s Word alive. Be faithful to your calling! Be God’s priest to the people around you today. Lord, I have too often wanted to give my opinions instead of Yours, but mine help no one. Forgive my shortsightedness. Fill my mouth today with a Word from You and guide me as I pray for those around me. You know what each one needs. Thank You for using me in this work of mercy, in Jesus’ name, amen. Pastor Dan Giles
